Just as we hit halfway through 2022, the academic year is starting to draw to a close. With it comes a large number of careers fairs, and students looking for advice on what they should be doing next. Luckily, our enthusiastic training and recruitment team are happy to help and it’s a relief to be returning to so many in-person events after two years of virtual meetings! Read on to discover what else we’ve been up to in the month of June!
Hitting Headlines
Our Digital Marketing Trainer, Sarah has been featured in this month’s copy of InBusiness magazine. She talks about her role at Starting Off as well as the impact being a Next Generation Chamber member has made on her. Read it here: inbusiness Northants June July 22 by Kemps Publishing – Issuu
Harry, one of our Business Administration learners has also been hitting the press recently, for being awarded one of the FIT Show 2022’s 30 Under 30! This award was part of a campaign that aims to shine light on the next wave of young people and rising stars coming through the fenestration industry. Congratulations from the team at Starting Off and especially from your trainer, Katie, who is so proud!
20 Years of AAT
AAT Programme Manager, Helen, has been feeling reminiscent as we celebrated 20 years this June since the very first Starting Off AAT exam was sat! Luckily for us, Helen still enjoys her role in AAT training, stating: “I still get the same level of satisfaction today as I did 20 years ago when I see students pass their exams and progress with their qualifications. It’s great to see that the AAT qualification still has the same level of respect in the industry as it did back then and is still at the forefront of the Accounting Apprenticeship agenda.”
You can read an account from one of the alumni in that very first cohort, Anne-Marie, here: Anne-Marie.
School Visits and Networking Events
With the end of the academic year now fast approaching, we’re seeing a surge in career events at schools across the county. With the last two years being nearly entirely virtual, it’s been a pleasure to be able to share our enthusiasm for apprenticeships with students and give advice on their next steps after leaving school.
The team has also been out and about at some exciting networking events this past month. Lucy and Sophie attended a Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes Chamber of Commerce’s Next Generation BBQ, and Charlotte and Katie met with new and familiar faces at the MK Chamber’s Business Showcase event.
